BOTLHALE TSHETLO
ABOUT
BOTLHALE
Botlhale started Hairtural, a hair care range formulated for natural hair, in 2014. Two years later, in 2016, she opened a hair salon (Hairtural Studio), and a speciality retail store for natural hair products and accessories (Autum) a couple of months later. Botlhale has given two TEDx talks; the first on random acts of kindness, and the second on the beauty of natural hair.
Botlhale studied economics at the University of the Free State and went to work as a fixed-income trader at the Reserve Bank, and then later joined the research sales team at Noah (a brokerage firm).
In 2008 she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that resulted in her leaving work at the end of 2009. It was during this period of recovery that she rediscovered her creativity and entrepreneurial flare, starting out with a baking business, Cake Couture.
When she gave a TEDx Talk on random acts of kindness in Soweto in 2013, Botlhale decided to let free her afro and vowed to start understanding her hair better... and that was the beginning of her natural hair journey.
At the beginning of 2023 Botlhale completed her trichology studies through IAT (International Association of Trichologists) and runs a trichology clinic in Johannesburg, South Africa.
